When you decide to open yourself up to the God of the Bible, to accept the truth of Scripture, and to desire a real relationship with this Jesus who lived and died and rose again, SOMETHING HAPPENS. There can be miraculous healings, divine interventions, or many other kinds of manifestations. Primarily there is a fundamental change in the person seeking to have the relationship -- because God has told us He wants that relationship. A bond begins to develop because God is the bonding agent. The Bible says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." (James 4:8) It also says of God that "you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul." (Deut 4:29)
Those men of the Bible who became disciples also became martyrs, accepting death rather than denying what they knew to be true. Over the centuries since then, many others, men and women, have opted for the same fate. Why? Because they were sure of what they believed, having seen God act again and again in their lives.
God's greatest act of love toward us was the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ, to die a horrible death on a cross to redeem us from our sins and reconcile us with our Creator. Spend some time with the Bible this week and discover God's love for yourself!
